Why corporate tax is a bookkeeping problem first
The return is a few numbers; the work is having books that support them.
Today, in most UAE companies
- Sales in an invoicing app, expenses in a spreadsheet, the bank in a PDF
- Accounts rebuilt at year-end from bank statements
- VAT 201 filed from one set of numbers, the accounts from another
- Nobody can say what the taxable profit is until the accountant is done
With Xrero
- Every sale, bill, expense and bank line posted in one ledger, as it happens
- Profit and loss and balance sheet live all year, not once in twelve months
- VAT 201 figures and the corporate tax working from the same posted entries
- Your accountant works inside the same books - nothing is re-typed
What you get on day one
Accounting built the way a UAE corporate tax return needs it, priced per user.
Proper double-entry books
A UAE chart of accounts, journals, bank statement import for the main UAE banks and reconciliation - the foundation every tax working stands on.
Financial statements, live
Profit and loss, balance sheet, trial balance and general ledger at any date, in AED, in Arabic or English.
VAT 201 from the same entries
Output and input VAT come from the invoices and bills you posted, so the VAT return and the accounts never disagree.
Fixed assets and depreciation
An asset register with depreciation posted automatically - one of the first schedules a corporate tax working needs.
Period locks and audit trail
Close a period and it stays closed; every entry shows who posted or changed it and when, which is what an auditor asks for first.
Multi-company and multi-currency
Group companies on one login, transactions in foreign currencies with AED values recorded, and reports per company or consolidated.
Your accountant inside the books
Invite your accountant or auditor as a user: they review the actual ledger, not an export, and the year-end takes days instead of weeks.
Records you can produce for seven years
Invoices, bills, statements and their attachments stay searchable and exportable, which is what the record-keeping rules require.
UAE corporate tax, in plain words
The rules that shape the work, and what Xrero does about each.
9% above AED 375,000
Taxable income above AED 375,000 in a tax period is taxed at 9%; income up to that amount at 0%. The books must show which is which.
Registration and a return every year
Taxable businesses register with the Federal Tax Authority and file a return for each tax period, due within nine months of the period's end. Xrero prepares the numbers; you or your accountant file.
Records for seven years
Financial records and supporting documents have to be kept and producible for years after the period. Xrero keeps them posted, attached and searchable.
Accounting profit is the starting point
The return starts from the financial statements and adjusts from there, so a correct profit and loss and balance sheet are most of the work.
VAT and corporate tax share the books
The same posted invoices and bills feed the VAT 201 and the corporate tax working; one ledger means one truth.
Relief and exemptions are for your accountant
Small business relief, exempt income and free zone questions depend on your facts. Xrero gives your accountant clean books to decide from; it does not give tax advice.
How the setup goes
We do the implementation ourselves, from the first call to the first month-end.
A 20-minute call
You show us how the books are kept today. We tell you honestly what your accountant will need from the system and what it will cost.
We set it up and move your data
Chart of accounts, opening balances, customers, suppliers, products and fixed assets are migrated by our team in Dubai; your team is trained on your own numbers.
Post all year, file from clean books
Sales, bills, expenses and the bank are posted as they happen. At year-end your accountant opens the same books and prepares the return.

Questions we get asked
Straight answers, the same ones we give on the phone.
What is UAE corporate tax?
A federal tax on business profits: 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000 in a tax period and 0% on income up to that amount, in force for financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023. The return starts from your financial statements.
Does Xrero file the corporate tax return?
No. Xrero keeps the books, produces the financial statements and the VAT 201 figures, and gives your accountant access to the ledger. Registration and filing are done by you or your accountant with the Federal Tax Authority.
When is the return due?
Within nine months after the end of the tax period. A December year-end therefore files by the end of the following September. Books that are posted all year make that a report, not a rebuild.
Do I still need an accountant?
For the return and for tax questions, yes. Xrero replaces the bookkeeping spreadsheet and the year-end reconstruction, not the accountant; invite them into the books and they work from the real ledger.
Does it handle VAT as well?
Yes. Tax invoices carry VAT 5% per line and the VAT 201 figures are prepared from the posted entries, ready to file, from the same books used for corporate tax.
Can it handle more than one company?
Yes. Group companies run on one login with separate books, and foreign-currency transactions are recorded with their AED values.
Does it work in Arabic?
Every screen, invoice and report is available in Arabic and English, and documents can carry both languages on the same page.
Is it VAT filing software too?
Yes. The VAT 201 figures for each period are prepared from the posted entries, ready to file, so the same system serves as your VAT software and your corporate tax books. Filing itself is done by you or your accountant on the authority's portal.
Does Xrero help with corporate tax filing in the UAE?
Xrero gets the books ready for filing: financial statements, the taxable-income working and the supporting ledger, with your accountant invited in. The return is filed by you or your accountant within nine months of the year end.
What does it cost?
AED 99 per user per month, and a one-time setup from AED 2,999 depending on the size of the business. No annual maintenance fee, 15-Day Trial Included, and the full price list is public on the pricing page.
